The Puget Sound Regional Council has released the draft VISION 2040 and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for public comment. Draft VISION 2040 will update the region’s current growth strategy, VISION 2020. Regional leaders were challenged to build on the current strategy’s key priorities and be better, bolder, more clear and more specific than VISION 2020. Draft VISION 2040 is a regional strategy to accommodate the additional 1.7 million people and 1.2 million new jobs expected to be in the region by the year 2040. An open house will be held to receive public comment about the VISION 2040 and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement at the Tacoma Room of the University of Washington Tacoma campus Aug. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. For more information, including draft documents and the full public process schedule, visit http://www.psrc.org/projects/vision/index.htm .
