Tacoma seeks nominees for City of Destiny Awards

The City of Tacoma is accepting nominations for the 29th Annual City of Destiny Awards.

Since 1987, the program has recognized more than 200 local individuals and organizations that have volunteered their time and energy (not money) within the City of Tacoma over the past 12 months to help drive Tacoma forward. The City of Destiny Awards program is spearheaded by the City of Tacoma Events and Recognition Committee, which is comprised of local community leaders from a broad array of backgrounds and areas of expertise. The Tacoma City Council-appointed committee develops the City of Destiny Awards nomination tools and selection criteria, selects the City of Destiny Awards winners, and plans the annual City of Destiny Awards event.

Nomination forms are available online here, and in-person at various Tacoma Public Library branches, as well as the TacomaFIRST 311 Customer Support Center, located at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St., Second Floor, in downtown Tacoma. Nominations will be accepted through Fri., Jan. 16, 2015. The 29th Annual City of Destiny Awards Ceremony will be held on Weds., June 2, at Cheney Stadium.

***UPDATE | Weds., Jan. 21 @ 1:03 p.m. — The City of Tacoma has extended the deadline for nominations to Fri., Jan. 30, 2015.
