Police agencies in Pierce County will begin their annual holiday DUI and traffic emphasis patrols this weekend.
Officers will be stepping up patrols to keep the roads safe during this traditionally dangerous time of year for motorists. The emphasis will continue through Jan. 1.
Officers from cities and towns throughout Pierce County, deputies from the Pierce County Sheriffs Department, troopers from the Washington State Patrol and agents from the Liquor Control Board will take part in the patrols.
Fort Lewis Military Police and McChord Security Forces will be holding simul-taneous patrols on their respective bases as well.
