Fourth annual Holiday Heritage dance brings Swing on November 3

The community is invited to Browns Point Bop, the fourth annual Holiday Heritage Swing Dance on Friday, Nov. 3, from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Browns Point Clubhouse (201 Ton A Wan Da Ave. NE).  The Points Northeast Historical Society will also be offering free tours of the historic Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage from 5 – 6 p.m.

The event will feature the Pierce County Community Big Band, a swing dance demonstration by Studio 6 Ballroom, free refreshments and a no-host bar will also be available. This historic preservation fundraiser celebrates Tacoma’s Maritime History, which has been the focus of this year’s Historic Preservation Programs. Attendees are encouraged to come in period costume.

“We’re excited to showcase the mid-century modern clubhouse, the art deco lighthouse, and the 1903 Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage, which all highlight different aspects of our region’s maritime history,” said Assistant Historic Preservation Officer Lauren Hoogkamer.

This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required.  RSVP on the event page, or contact Hoogkamer at landmarks@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-5254. Suggested donations will support heritage programming and events in 2018.
