Tacoma-based Cartoonists League of Absurd Washingtonians (C.L.A.W.) has announced it is accepting applications for its Young Cartoonist of the Future scholarship, which has been awarded annually for the past two years to a student currently enrolled in an educational institution and aspiring to be a cartoonist or illustrator. In 2009, the organization awarded $100 to Adam M. Botsford. In 2010, the organization awarded $370 to Amelia Davis, an art student at Cogswell Polytechnical College in Sunnyvale, Calif. This year, C.L.A.W. has raised approximately $900 for the scholarship. The application must be postmarked or electronically received no later than Tues., March 15, 2011. The scholarship recipient will be notified in July.
