Beginning Nov. 23, a half-million lights will transform Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium into a glittering holiday wonderland, as part of Zoolights, the Northwests premier holiday light display.
The 14th annual Zoolights features colorful light displays of exotic animals, local landmarks – including Mt. Rainier – the popular flame tree, nursery rhyme characters and more, all in a beautiful setting overlooking the Puget Sound.
Viewers can also enjoy lit pathways for strolling, holiday music, hot cocoa and gift items for sale.
Inside, people can view sharks and other sea creatures.
To conserve energy, Zoolights will operate fewer days this year.
The display will be closed Mondays through Wednesdays until Dec. 13, then will be open daily through Dec. 31, except for Dec. 24-25.
Zoolights tickets are $4 at the gate, or $3.50 if purchased in advance.
Advance tickets will go on sale Oct. 25 at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, all Metro Parks Tacoma community centers, Pierce Transit outlets and Key Bank branches in Pierce County.
