Wood burning, climate change, Spokane’s street utility focus of study session

Members of the City Council are scheduled Sept. 23 to hear a presentation from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency regarding our air quality status, strategies and challenges. The presentation will also cover what non-attainment means for Tacoma and Pierce County and ozone regulations. Additionally, Tacoma Public Utilities staff will give a presentation on the Western Climate Initiative. As a third item on the agenda, Spokane City Council member Al French will do a presentation on Spokane’s Street Utility — a permanent mechanism to fund municipal road maintenance repairs and new construction.

The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on tvtacoma.com. On-demand audio archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting at http://www.tvtacoma.com .
