Walk Tacoma series continues Aug. 6 with scavenger hunt

The fifth annual Walk Tacoma series continues in August with a scavenger hunt in downtown Tacoma.

The one-hour walk, sponsored by Union Bank, will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Weds., Aug. 6, at Social Bar & Grill, located at 1715 Dock St., in downtown Tacoma. Participants will decipher clues that will lead them to specific downtown destinations, many of which have been featured during the Walk Tacoma 2014 series. Participants will be asked to take a photo at each location, so a camera or camera phone is required. In addition, there will be trivia questions to answer and special activities to complete at some of the locations. Prizes will be awarded to participants reaching certain point levels. The highest scoring individual and team will each win a grand prize. The event is free and there is no need to pre-register for the event.

Walk Tacoma 2014 is an eight-event walking series held on first and third Wednesdays, from April through August. The fun, themed walks encourage downtown employees and residents to exercise and enjoy the outdoors by discovering the different walking routes and parks in downtown Tacoma. The walks are scheduled at the lunch hour and just after work to encourage downtown employees to walk during their workday, whether it is to and from work or at a lunch break.

Walking maps of the routes are available at no cost at Downtown On the Go, 950 Pacific Ave., Suite 300, at many downtown businesses, or by contacting Meagan Kula, Downtown On the Go Coordinator, at (253) 682-1734 or dotg@tacomachamber.org.
