Utilities upgrades will temporarily close I-705/A Street off-ramp

Construction activities in the vicinity of A and South 14th streets will cause the I-705/A Street off-ramp to be closed beginning June 4. The closure is expected to last no longer than a month. The I-705/15th Street exit will remain open.

The I-705/13th Street on-ramp is also expected to temporarily close at some point during this time period. Watch for detour signs.

This construction project consists of replacing approximately 1,300 feet of original storm water pipe and approximately 450 feet of original sanitary sewer pipe. Work will also include asphalt and concrete pavement patches, intersection work and traffic control.

As the project progresses, traffic patterns will be modified in the project area. Every effort will be made to keep roadways open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic throughout construction. Road closures on A Street, South 14th Street, South 13th Street and Court A will be limited to one-block segments with detours. Access to all parking lots, parking garages and businesses will be maintained. However, public parking on roads and public access to sidewalks adjacent to the construction activities may be limited.

Work is currently under way and is expected to continue through the end of July. For updates on this and other projects, go to http://www.cityoftacoma.org/constructionupdates .
