'Tacoma Means Business': City to unveil new business development Web site

At noon on Tues., March 27, Tacoma City Council will hold a study session to be briefed on a variety of topics.

First, Community and Economic Development staff will give a presentation on TacomaMeansBusiness.com ( http://www.tacomameansbusiness.com ), a new online resource for local businesses. The presentation will offer a preview of the new Web site and its functionality. The Web site is scheduled to launch on Fri., March 30.

Also on the agenda, Community and Economic Development staff and Human Rights & Human Services staff will share the 2012-2013 Consolidated Plan Annual Action Plan recommendations. Each year, the City receives federal Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnership, and Emergency Shelter Grant funding. These funds are to be used for housing, community and economic development and for human services activities as identified in the Annual Action Plan to the Consolidated Plan.

Finally, staff will share their project recommendations for the Economic Development District Public Works Project Prioritization Process. Each year, the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) ranks local public works projects based on their economic development impact. PSRC then sends the prioritized recommendations to the U.S. Economic Development Administration to help the most deserving local projects pursue federal funding.

City Council will not take public comment during the meeting, which will be held in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on http://www.tvtacoma.com . On-demand audio archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting at http://www.tvtacoma.com .
