Just in time for this years boating season, the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) is introducing a faster, easier way to renew boat registrations by using the Internet.
The new service gives boat owners a convenient, easy and secure way to renew from home- or anywhere else with Internet access – using a Visa or MasterCard for payment.
The new service is an enhancement of the successful Internet Tabs Web site that allows vehicle owners to purchase license tabs online.
Since its launch on May 29, 2001, the site has processed more than 169,000 vehicle registrations.
The Internet Tabs application is designed to provide customers with an around-the-clock ability to renew vehicle and boat registrations in just a few minutes.
It also provides customers with the convenience of renewing tabs using a credit card-an option not yet available when renewing by mail or in person.
The Web address for Internet Tabs is printed on the registration renewal notices mailed to 300,000 boat owners this week.
All it takes to renew a boat registration online is a computer with Internet access, a valid Visa or MasterCard, the boats registration number and the hull identification number or last name of the registered owner. This information can all be found on the vessel registration renewal notice.
As part of the transaction process, customers choose whether to have the new registration materials mailed or ready for pick up at a local vehicle licensing office.
If the mail option is chosen, the materials are automatically sent to the address that appears on the departments record for that vehicle or boat.
Customers choosing to pick up their registration materials are provided with a list of statewide vehicle licensing offices. Identification is required to pick up registrations.
