The Washington State Department of Revenue reminds business owners they will need to reprogram their cash registers to reflect several changes in sales tax rates beginning Oct. 1. In Pierce County, the public transportation benefit area boundary will change and the following jurisdictions will no longer be within the Pierce Transit boundary. As a result, their sales and use tax rate will decrease by six-tenths of one percent. This will affect Bonney Lake, Buckley, DuPont, Orting, Sumner, part of the Pierce County Hospital Benefit Zone, and various parts of Pierce County. More information is available online here.
