The next few years could see many changes to local recycling and waste reduction programs. Pierce County residents can help shape those changes and improvements by joining the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC). Pierce County Public Works and Utilities is seeking applicants to fill four vacancies on the committee. The SWAC meets at least quarterly, the second Wednesday evening of the month. Members serve a four-year term. All interested citizens, especially young adults and business representatives, are encouraged to apply online at http://www.piercecountywa.org/swac or call (253) 798-2179 for an application form. Committee members are appointed by the Pierce County Executive and approved by the Pierce County Council.
