Action on Ordinances
Proposal No. 2003-80, calling for an election on November 4, 2003, for the purpose of submitting to county voters the determination of whether or not to impose a county-wide local sales and use tax to fund at least 100 new city police officers and county sheriff deputies and to make needed improvements to the criminal justice system, pursuant to Second Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (SESSB) 5659, Chapter 24, Laws of Washington, 2003.

Messages from the Executive
A message from the Executive transmitting the following Ordinances, which were approved and signed on July 21, 2003:

Ordinance No. 2003-42, vacating a portion of 27th Avenue Northwest right-of-way, located in the Southeast Quarter of Section 32, Township 21, North Range 2 East of the Willamette Meridian, in the Gig Harbor area; and reserving the right of access for draining storm water, and maintaining the system.

Ordinance No. 2003-49s, responding to the final decision and order of the Central Puget Sound Growth Management Hearing Board regarding Case No. 02-3-0010; amending Chapter 19B.40 of the Pierce County Code, Parkland-Spanaway-Midland Communities Plan; amending Chapter 18A.25, Zone Classifications and Use Tables, to create a high density single-family zone and modify the zoning atlas; amending Chapter 18A.35, Development Standards, to address specified portions of the residential resource and single-family zone classifications; and adopting findings of fact.

Ordinances
Proposal No. 2003-65, enacting a new Chapter 2.109 of the Pierce County Code, “Historically Under-utilized Business (HUB) Program,” a program to increase participation in county contracts for qualified businesses which have difficulty competing for county government business.
