Big move: ImprintStore.com expands, relocates

ImprintStore.com – a growing Tacoma incentive company providing Internet-based imprinted products – opened a large new corporate showroom and company store Fulfillment Center on Aug. 1.

The new 6,700-square-foot facility – formerly subleased by Total Office Furniture – is located at 309 Puyallup Ave., near the scenic east end of the Foss Waterway and just one block from downtown Tacoma’s new Link light rail line and Freighthouse Square.

The four-year-old company’s corporate headquarters, sales, graphics and technology departments will also relocate from their present offices in the Dock Building on East Dock Street.

“This is a great location in an area which has not yet been discovered,” said company president and CEO Bill Kaufmann. “The Sound Transit rail connections make it easy for our clients both in Tacoma and Seattle to make incentive product decisions without ever having to drive their car. Even though we do a ton of local business online, we recognize there will always be clients who like to touch-and-feel corporate clothing and gifts before they make a decision.”

He added: “We were pretty hidden in the Dock Building.”

The company did extensive research before choosing the new location – and whether to even stay in Tacoma. “We’ve been looking all around Pierce County,” Kaufmann said.

In the end, it was chance that led ImprintStore.com to its new location, when Kaufmann happened to notice the building was available while driving by one day.

The building met Kaufmann’s three requirements: it projected the company’s “funky and fun” attitude, saved ImprintStore.com money and provided increased warehousing capability. “It was harder to find all three than we realized,” Kaufmann noted.

The new corporate showroom will be the largest collection of factory-direct corporate clothing and gifts between Seattle and Portland. The Fulfillment Center will eventually support many of the warehousing, inventory and fulfillment services that are currently operated through contract licenses for clients.

Kaufmann lauded the building owner for “investing a ton of money” into the structure, including new wiring, and was appreciative of the warm welcome the company received from the Dome District. “It’s like a business neighborhood here,” he said.

ImprintStore was founded in a Tacoma warehouse by promotional industry veteran Kaufmann and a team of customers from major corporations in early 1999.

The company has affiliations with top brand-name manufacturers such as Nike Fossil, Rand McNally and Sharper Image. Nationally known clients have included Exxon, Weyerhaeuser and Washington Mutual.

ImprintStore.com employees eight people, in addition to sharing office space with Hemisphere Design.
