“Linda Ishem, Community Services Director, has appointed Marlette Buchanan as Pierce County’s arts manager. She will be responsible for the County’s Arts Commission and arts programs, including the Artist In Residence, Community Grants and Percent For Art programs. Buchanan is a graduate of Fisk University and earned her master’s degree from Boston University. She is currently acquiring her master’s in Business Administration.Buchanan serves as an adjunct faculty member for voice at Pacific Lutheran University. She recently served as the Arts and Program Coordinator for Cascade Christian School District. She continues her work as the Choral Music Director for Cascade Christian Junior and Senior High School. Buchanan is a recognized artist who performs in opera, theater, television and film locally and nationally. Her most recent performance was this spring for Tacoma City Ballet’s production of Carmina Burana at the Pantages Theater.”
