Pierce County Animal Control is requesting the public’s help in identifying the owner of two dogs and a possible suspect(s) in the shooting of a mastiff.
Animal Control responded to the 30600 block of 118th Ave. E. in Graham on Feb. 10 and found two dogs on the dead end street. One of the dogs, a female mastiff approximately four years of age, had multiple gunshot wounds. The second dog, an older brown and black chow mix breed, was uninjured. Investigators believe the mastiff might have been shot up to a week prior to being found.
The mastiff was in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.
Individuals who shoot animals may be charged with first degree animal cruelty, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
