SUMMONS AND NOTICE BY PUBLICATION OF PETITION AND HEARING REGARDING TERMINATION OF PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP

IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON

IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF PIERCE

IN RE THE ADOPTION OF: KELLY ANNE MARIE JOHNSTON A Minor The Petitioner has filed with the Clerk of the above-named Court a Petition praying that the parent-child relationship between the alleged natural parent and above-named child be terminated.

YOU ARE HEREBY SUMMONED to appear on the 1st day of May, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. at the Pierce County Juvenile Court, Remann Hall, 5501 6th Ave. S., Tacoma, Washington, and defend the above-entitled action, and answer the Petition of the Petitioners, and serve a copy of your answer upon the undersigned attorney for Petitioners at the office below stated.

If you fail to do so, judgment may be rendered against you according to the request of the Petition.

The child, KELLY ANNE MARIE JOHNSTON, was born on the 30th day of September, 2016, in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. The child’s natural mother is Tiffany Marie Johnston, deceased, and the child’s natural father is Vamar Leney Jones.

YOUR FAILURE TO APPEAR AT THE HEARING MAY RESULT IN A DEFAULT ORDER PERMANENTLY TERMINATING ALL OF YOUR RIGHTS TO THE ABOVE-NAMED CHILD.

Any non-consenting parent has a right to be represented by an attorney, and an attorney will be appointed for an indigent parent who so requests.

YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that your failure to file a claim of paternity within thirty (30) days of the first publication of this Notice or to respond to the Petition to terminate the parent-child relationship within thirty (30) days of the first publication is grounds to terminate your parent-child relationship with respect to the child, and such relief will be requested at the Court hearing stated above.

One method of filing your response and serving a copy

on the Petitioners’ attorney is to send it by certified mail, with return receipt requested.
