New Web site highlights Tacoma’s attractions

Today the City of Tacoma launched a new Web resource called CityofDestiny.com for anyone interested in the best the city has to offer, from economic development opportunities to attractions that draw tourists to and delight the citizens of Tacoma.

“We want to reclaim and build on the identity of Tacoma as the City of Destiny, which is a name that has been associated with the city since it was chosen as the western terminus for the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1873,” said Tacoma Economic Development Department Director Ryan Petty. “This new site will showcase our international city’s natural beauty and thriving business community that we plan to continue to grow in the downtown core and beyond.”

In its initial version the site features a wide range of links organized under eight categories: Quality of Life, Tacoma in Perspective, Economic Opportunity, Things To Do, Tacoma Events, Just the Facts, City Government and More. City staff will work over the next few months to add content to the site, and CityofDestiny.com visitors are invited to offer their feedback and suggestions by clicking the Suggestion Box link.

CityofDestiny.com is a cooperative effort by a number of City departments, including the Tacoma Economic Development Department, Business Information Services and the Community Relations Office. You can visit the site at http://www.CityofDestiny.com.
