Pierce County’s official 2002 population is 725,000, according to the state Office of Financial Management. The new figure is up 11,600 from last year.

The unincorporated population increased to 329,208 (from 323,825) and the incorporated population increased to 395,792 (from 389,575).

Tacoma’s population is194,900.

Washington state’s 2002 population is 6,041,700, up from 5,974,900 last year.

The state’s unincorporated population increased to 2,423,726 (from 2,408,557), and the incorporated population increased to 3,617,974 (from 3,566,343).
