The Pierce County Department of Public Works and Utilities has published a new double-sided, full-color 24″ x 36″ Pierce County Bicycle Guide Map.
Some of the information on the map includes: routes showing traffic volumes and type of trail, shoulder or roadway available for bicycling;big hills; mountain biking routes in eastern Pierce County;a small inset map showing distances from Tacoma to other points in Western Washington; safety tips, traffic laws and helmet laws; parks and campgrounds; various bicycle-friendly attractions, and many others; and a list of phone numbers and Web sites to find more information about roads and trails, camping, ferry routes, bus schedules, train travel and guidebooks.
The maps can be viewed online at www.piercecountywa.org/bikemap. These free maps are available at the Public Works counter at the Pierce County Annex, 2401 S. 35th St., Pierce County Library branches, local bicycle shops and Tacoma-Pierce County Visitor Information Centers. You can also have a map(s) mailed to you by making out a check to Pierce County for $1 (postage and handling) for each map requested. Mail the check and request to Pierce County Public Works and Utilities, Bike Map, 2401 S. 35th St., Room 150, Tacoma, WA 98409.
