Council to review budget status
The City Council will take a look at the city’s bottom line at the study session. City Manager Ray Corpuz and Diane Supler, director of the Office of Management, Budget and Analysis, will discuss the status of revenues and expenses as compared with actual revenue and expenses for 2001 and the first quarter of 2002. Supler will also present an overview of proposed budget changes that may come before the City Council for consideration as soon as June. The public may attend the study session, but the council will not take comment.

Destiny Award winners
At the 16th annual City of Destiny Awards – set for tomorrow – City Council members will present awards to four individuals and four groups for the outstanding volunteer service they provide to the community.
The City Council-appointed Citizens’ Recognition Committee selected winners from 50 nominations.
This year’s City of Destiny Award winners are: Valarie Osborne, Adult Leadership; Andrew Klein, Youth Leadership; Myrtle Appling, Adult Sustained Service; Thu Truong, Youth Sustained Service; Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity, Neighborhood or Community Group; Tucci & Sons, Inc., Corporation, Business or Entrepreneur; PLU football team, Young Adult Group; and Willie Adams and Mike Chambers, Employee or Union Group.
The City of Destiny Awards will replay on TV Tacoma – exclusively within the city limits – from May 16 through May 31:
Thursdays – 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.; Fridays – 4 a.m., 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.; Saturdays – 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Sundays – 1 a.m., 3 p.m., 8 p.m.; Mondays – 4 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Tuesdays – 4 a.m., noon and 11 p.m.; and Wednesdays – 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
