City Council seeks volunteers for Stakeholder Task Force

The City of Tacoma seeks 11 volunteer citizens to serve on the Service Tax Stakeholder Task Force. The task force will study the service tax proposal for funding Police, Fire and Library services and make recommendations on the proposal or other revenue alternatives to the City Council by Aug. 1, 2006. The task force will recommend whether the City Council should place a public advisory referendum on the service tax proposal or an alternative on the ballot for Tacoma voters.

The Service Tax Stakeholder Task Force will be composed of one at-large chairperson and 10 representatives from stakeholder groups in Tacoma. The membership will include: two business representatives, two neighborhood representatives, two labor representatives, two nonprofit organization representatives and two civic organization representatives.
