Annual Port of Tacoma boat tours prove popular

The Port of Tacoma offered free guided boat tours last month during the 21st Annual Tacoma Maritime Fest, which was held this year at Thea’s Park and Foss Waterway Seaport. According to Port of Tacoma officials, more than 1,000 people boarded Argosy’s Lady Mary for five trips that offered visitors a ship-side view of one of North America’s largest container ports. Highlights included close-up views of the ZIM Djibouti, the largest container ship to call in Tacoma (it holds 10,000 containers and its length stretches nearly twice the height of the Space Needle), and the TEMCO/Cargill grain terminal. More photographs are available online here.
