A resolution approved by the City Council on Jan. 31 designates three historic buildings to the Tacoma Register of Historic Places. The Starr Street houses, built in 1904, are nominated for their association with the Croatian-American community and the development history of Old Town. The home at 701 N. J St., known as the Rhodes Mansion, is within the boundaries of the North Slope Historic District. The home is nominated for its association with Henry Rhodes, and as an outstanding example of Tacoma’s early 20th century residential architecture. The Lavroff home at 820 N. Stadium Way, built in 1925, is another example of Tacoma’s fine residential architecture.
