“American industry began reporting on their post-Y2K operations by the beginning of this week.The natural gas industry claimed passed the Y2K test with flying colors according to Oliver G. Rick Richard III, the industrys senior advisor to the Presidents Council on Year 2000 Conversion.Natural gas continued to flow to over 60 million homes and businesses as the year 2000 began, due to cooperation within the industry, Richard said. The industry reportedly spent over $1 billion to analyze, fix, test and check Y2K problems in their systems.The petroleum industry reported virtually all of world oil and natural gas production successfully made the Y2K transition, after spending over $2 billion in preparation.”
