The City Council is scheduled March 24 to consider a resolution that would authorize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Puyallup Tribe regarding cooperative planning and development. In 1988, the local governments of Pierce County entered into an agreement with the Puyallup Tribe. The agreement emphasized the need of the Tribe and local governments to communicate and coordinate on land use and related matters. The purpose of the MOU is to build a cooperative relationship and framework for projects of mutual benefit or impacts related to economic development, transportation, land use planning, environmental stewardship and cultural assessments.
