City Council members are scheduled May 20 to receive an update on the Transportation Benefit District from Association of Washington Cities Transportation Coordinator Ashley Probart. Starting May 23, all Washington cities and counties will be allowed to use the transportation benefit district tool either through Council action for a fee of up to $20, or with a vote of the people up to $100. These funds can then be used to finance construction of, operate improvements to roadways, high capacity transportation systems, public transit systems and other transportation management programs. As a second item on the agenda, Council members are scheduled to hear a presentation from Click! Network staff on the proposed rate increase, which is designed to generate additional revenue for commercial telecommunication and operations to assist in recovering costs as represented in the 2007/2008 budget.
The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16.
