Tacoma School District teachers agreed not to walk off their jobs – just yet.
Teachers agreed to a 30-day extension to work out unresolved contract issues.
Thursdays vote was 1,002 in favor of the negotiation deadline, 96 against.
If a tentative agreement is not reached by Sept. 30, the Tacoma Education Associations 2,300 teachers say they will vote to strike.
Meanwhile, teachers in the Clover Park School District in Lakewood voted overwhelmingly Thursday to strike.
