Environmental policy, Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy lead Port Commission agenda

Port of Tacoma Commissioners will consider adopting an environmental policy at their Jan. 17 meeting to reaffirm the Port’s stewardship and encourage partnership with ports in Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., on a Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy. The joint strategy outlines short-term and long-term goals to reduce air pollution from ships, cargo-handling equipment, trucks and trains. The policy and strategy were proposed to support the Port’s goal to make area water, land and air healthier. Commissioners will take comment at the Jan. 17 noon meeting at The Fabulich Center, Room 104, 3600 Port of Tacoma Road.
