World War II memorial monument dedication, Nov. 11

On Veterans Day, a World War II memorial monument bearing the names of 750 Pierce County residents – who lost their lives as a result of their war service – will be dedicated and presented as a gift from the Tacoma Historical Society to the City of Tacoma.
The monument dedication service titled Gone, But Not Forgotten will take place on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at the War Memorial Park located at 6th Avenue and McArthur Street. Speakers at the event will include the Deputy Director of the Department of Veteran Affairs, Lourds Alvarado Ramos; James Wells, a WWII veteran; and Laurie Castenbaum, daughter of Lawrence Martin Ganes, who will be representing all of those who have relatives with names on the monument.
