Friday, May 13 is the registration deadline for the Pierce County Parks and Recreation Department’s Kids Fishing Event Saturday, May 21 at North American Lake Park. The event’s purpose is to introduce boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14 to fishing.

About 50 slots remain in the 1 and 2 p.m. sessions. A total of six sessions will be held to accommodate 500 young people. Cost is $5. Each participating child must be accompanied by an adult, and each receives a t-shirt, rod and reel.

Sponsors include Pierce County Parks and Recreation, CAST for Kids, City of Lakewood, Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife, Washington BASS Foundation, Eagle Claw, Power Bait and Trout Unlimited.
