City seeks box office operator for Tacoma Dome, Convention Center

The City of Tacoma is accepting bids on a contract to handle box office duties at the Tacoma Dome and the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center, according to a legal notice published in the Tacoma Daily Index.

According to bid documents prepared by the City of Tacoma’s Public Facilities Department staff, responsibilities involve ticket sales, distribution, and marketing solutions for the two City-owned facilities. The contractor would also run the box offices, retail outlets, call centers, and Internet and mobile sales. The Tacoma Dome can accommodate 23,000 visitors, while the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center offers 75,300 square feet of bookable space, according to City of Tacoma staff. The Tacoma Dome is projected to host approximately 70 events and 675,000 visitors annually.

The bid deadline expires on Tues., Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. A four-year contract is expected to be awarded in November and take effect on Jan. 1, 2015. The contract could be extended for an additional two years.
