Zoolights set for Nov. 29-Dec. 31

What better way to celebrate the holiday season than a trip to Zoolights, the Northwest’s premier light display?
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium will open its 15th annual Zoolights extravaganza Nov. 29.
Zoolights features magnificent light displays of local landmarks, including Mount Rainier, as well as exotic animals, nursery rhyme characters and other features.
New this year will be a carousel display situated near the future site of an antique carousel opening in 2004.
The festive family atmosphere of Zoolights invites visitors to stroll glowing pathways, enjoy holiday music and hot cocoa, and browse one-of-a-kind holiday gifts.
Visitors can warm up inside the South Pacific Aquarium, home to sharks and other tropical seas creatures.
This year, the North Pacific Aquarium will be available for catered events during the Zoolights celebration.
For more information about booking an event, contact Group Sales Coordinator Heidi Klinker at 253/404-3805.
This will be the final year for visitors to see Zoolights in its traditional form.
The zoo is undergoing a $35 million expansion and renovation that will change the face of the zoo.
Construction during the next several years will affect future displays.
Zoolights will operate on a similar schedule as last year.
The display will open the day after Thanksgiving.
It will be closed Mondays through Wednesdays until Dec. 12, then open daily through Dec. 31 (except Dec. 24-25).
Zoolights tickets are $4 at the gate or $3.50 if purchased in advance.
Advance tickets go on sale Nov. 6 at Puget Sound Albertson’s stores and before 4 p.m. daily at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
Tickets also can be purchased by phone at 253/404-3678.
Parking is free.
