Volunteers needed to evaluate recreation grants

The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) is seeking volunteers to help evaluate grant proposals. RCO is looking to fill vacancies on three advisory committees that will evaluate and rank grant proposals next fall and winter for recreation around the state. Volunteers should have recreational trail or shooting range experience or expertise in project design or management, landscape architecture, planning, engineering or permitting. Volunteers serve 4 years. Applications are due December 31.

The following volunteers are needed:

* One citizen volunteer with law enforcement experience for the Firearms and Archery Range Recreation program, which provides grants to acquire, develop and renovate recreational archery and shooting facilities. See application at: http://www.rco.wa.gov/grants/advisory_committees/farr.shtml

* One citizen volunteer with horse riding experience for the Nonhighway and Off-road Vehicle Activities Program, which provides grants to acquire, develop and maintain backcountry recreational areas and trails See application at: http://www.rco.wa.gov/grants/advisory_committees/nova.shtml.

* One federal government volunteer and one citizen volunteer with horse riding experience for the Recreational Trails Program, which provides grants to maintain or rehabilitate trails and facilities in the backcountry.
