Upskill training will advance workers into living-wage careers in priority industries. Training providers are needed.

Tacoma, WA – Employers across high-demand industries throughout Pierce County are seeking qualified job seekers to fill positions that provide living-wage employment. WorkForce Central is responding to this need by building a strong pool of technical training providers to deliver employer-driven, rapid reskill and upskill trainings to build the talent pipeline in these high-demand occupations.

“There are local job seekers ready to reskill or upskill into these occupations,” said Teresa Delicino, Senior Director of Business Solutions at WorkForce Central. “With a combination of accessible training opportunities and individualized wrap-around support, we are setting up a foundation for workers to successfully advance into thriving careers.”

WorkForce Central plans to work with training providers over the next three years to deliver cohort trainings for participants that last between 2-16 weeks at a time. Priority skill development pathways include Behavioral and Mental Health Care, Commercial Driving, Construction Trades, Nursing, Medical Coding and Billing, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Technology, Cybersecurity, Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance, Water Systems Management, Welding, and more.

“Our goal is that when industry demand is identified, we can act quickly by having a ready pool of training providers established,” Delicino continued. “Having a preselected group of training providers will allow us to be more nimble and timely in our response when a training need is identified in the community.”

A Request for Qualifications and Quotations (RFQQ) was released by WorkForce Central for these Industry Skills Cohort Trainings and can be viewed on WorkForce Central’s website: https://workforce-central.org/2021/08/09/rfqq-industry-and-career-cohort-training/.
