Do you want to gain a better understanding of where your hard-earned tax dollars go? Youre not alone. Now, Tacoma citizens can get the facts on how the city spends their local property tax and sales tax dollars.
Your Piece of the Pie, which will air on TV Tacoma from today through April 30, answers many common questions citizens have about how their tax dollars are being spent. The half-hour documentary features three local taxpayers who had questions about their local government and how it spends their tax dollars. Office of Budget, Management and Analysis and Department of Financing staff members provide the answers to those questions. Its a civics lesson we think many tax payers will be interested to learn.
The City Council approved creating the program as a way for the city to respond to the many questions citizens have about local taxes. A contractor wrote the script and produced the program in collaboration with TV Tacoma staff.
