The Pampered Chef makes a stop at Sands Costner & Associates

The Pampered Chef made a stop in Tacoma Wednesday afternoon. No, a spoiled cook didn’t pay a visit to the city.

Rather, Sands Costner & Associates, located in Suite 1601 of the Washington Building, was the site of an office party where people got a chance to stop by and see the latest in kitchen essentials, handy gadgets and fun recipes courtesy of The Pampered Chef, a direct seller of kitchen tools and appliances.

Sands Costner & Associates employees – accountant Terri Strobel and graphic designer Carrie Case – hosted the gathering, which included several dessert items to snack on, catalogs featuring a variety of products and several recipe books.

Washington Building employees and friends turned out during the noon to 1:30 p.m. event to enjoy the food, perhaps order some merchandise if they were so inclined and engage in some friendly conversation.

Mary Webb, a friend of Case’s, stopped by with her 6-month-old son, Isaac. The happy tyke got a chance to be held by several delighted Sands Costner & Associates employees and provided some lighthearted entertainment by enthusiastically crawling around on the floor.

This was the first The Pampered Chef party at Sands Costner & Associates, Strobel said, noting Case’s house has been the site of several such get-togethers.

Rachael Costner, owner and principal of Sands Costner & Associates, was happy to have her business be the setting for Wednesday’s office party.

Costner once owned a small graphic design firm that eventually merged with a full-service advertising agency in Tacoma. In 2000, she became the owner and principal of the firm now known as Sands Costner & Associates.

“We do everything, from print advertising, radio, logos and corporate identity, jingles and event planning,” said Costner, who at one point had Isaac Webb sitting her lap, perusing a The Pampered Chef catalog with her. (The youngster also enjoyed munching on a business card this writer had had given to his mother.)

Costner also is the publisher and co-owner of the Women’s Resource & Business Directory, a guide for women business owners and service providers in the Puget Sound area.
