Dollar Tree is opening a new store in Tacoma this weekend.

Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., the nation’s largest $1 discount variety store, will celebrate a grand opening this Saturday, in the Highland Hill Shopping Center, 6111 6th Ave., Tacoma.

For the event this weekend, Dollar Tree will be offering grand opening specials that include 50-oz. bottles of Tide liquid laundry detergent, six packs of 12oz. cans of Coke, 26-oz. cans of Folgers coffee, and four packs of Kleenex Cottonelle Bathroom Tissue, all for – surprise – a dollar.

“We’re excited to offer Tacoma area consumers an opportunity to enjoy finding great values every day of the week,” said marketing Vice President Barbara Seman in a press release. “We are eager to serve the community by providing a fun and convenient shopping experience at a price that is right for everyone.”

Dollar Tree has rapidly expanded its business in the dollar store marketplace. Fueling the company’s recent growth are larger store formats and a single-price point strategy that provides consumers with exceptional variety and value for everyday items.

Including the new Tacoma store, Dollar Tree is celebrating 17 grand opening events across the country Saturday, said Moira Vanderhoof, a junior account executive with Rockett, Burkhead & Winslow.

Dollar Tree stores are open seven days a week and are typically located in high-traffic strip malls near grocery stores or mass-merchandisers.

This grand opening is part of a larger nationwide trend. The dollar store category is one of the fastest growing retail segments in America.
Shopping at such stores is becoming more common. Sixty-nine percent of all U.S. households shop dollar stores. Currently, well over one-third of all Americans visit a dollar store each month. More and more shoppers are visiting a dollar store first to find bargains before they shop more traditional retailers.

Consumers can find exceptional variety and value for everyday, seasonal and specialty items, at Dollar Tree, as well as food and snacks, health and beauty care necessities, office supplies, toys and much more.

“It is tough to tell which is more appealing to our shoppers – the consistent low price or the thrill of our ever-changing merchandise selection. You’ll be amazed at how much a dollar can buy,” added Seman.
