Tacoma's Mandolin Cafe to close July 15

The owner of the Mandolin Cafe in Tacoma has announced he will close July 15.

“This is not a reflection of poor business but a decision made by the property owner, John Morrison, to sell the building,” according to a notice posted to the cafe’s doors. “Tom Montante, the Mandolin Cafe business owner, was informed three weeks ago that John had sold the building to a couple who own a sushi restaurant in DuPont. We believe they intend to open another sushi restaurant here.”

The Mandolin Cafe, which is a popular place for tea, coffee, and live music, is located at 3923 South 12th Street. More information is online at http://www.themandolincafe.com/ .

Dear Loyal Customers,

The Mandolin Cafe regrets to inform you that we will be closing our doors on July 15th. This is not a reflection of poor business but a decision made by the property owner, John Morrison, to sell the building. Tom Montante, the Mandolin Cafe business owner, was informed three weeks ago that John had sold the building to a couple who own a sushi restaurant in DuPont. We believe they intend to open another sushi restaurant here.

The staff at the Mandolin Cafe would like to thank all our awesome customers for the love and support over the past eight years. Your support in this last year when Tom, Emily and Sarah took over the restaurant is especially appreciated. Our goal was to provide Tacoma with a community gathering place for those who want a relaxed place to enjoy great food, friends and wonderful, local music. This has truly been a great place to work where we not only got to share our love of coffee, food and music but of all the arts. We all feel so lucky that we were able to be a part of a venue that has showcased so many different talents from the South Sound (and even from around the world!)

It is a sad time knowing that the end of a truly wonderful place is near but we will have all the amazing memories. The friendships and connections that were made here are priceless. I hope we can make the last two weeks here as memorable as possible and that you all have a chance to enjoy one last show, one last coffee and one last delicious meal here at the Mandolin. It has been a great journey and we thank you for being a part of it with us!!!
