Tacoma Mall to host arts and heritage festival

Tacoma Mall will be hosting a weekend event called “The Arts & Heritage Festival” on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6, throughout the mall, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., respectively.

The event is designed to support the efforts of local arts organizations and agencies in Pierce County.

Surrounding area residents are invited and encouraged to attend the variety of cultural activities, including stage performance, 21 booth exhibits and an extensive enter-to-win prize list.

In conjunction with Tacoma Mall, various exhibitors, including Tacoma Opera, The Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, the Tacoma Parks Department, NW Contemporary Ballet and sixteen others will be on hand for shoppers to visit.

Stage performances will be held in the main courtyard near The Bon Marche from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Prizes will be drawn at this same main stage at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

“We are excited about hosting this creative and very fun event at our mall. This event will help teach local residents about the cultural community located right in the heart of our city and county,” said Lynn Castle, marketing director at Tacoma Mall. “By supporting the arts and heritage organizations, we are able to deliver on our commitment to bring value-added experiences and community events to our shoppers.”
