The Neighborhood Bistro, home of Goodwill’s Culinary Skills training program, will open a new satellite location at 1950 South State Street. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Mon., Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. to mark the grand opening.
The Neighborhood Bistro houses Goodwill’s Culinary Skills training program, a six- or twelve-week, hands-on and classroom culinary training course designed to teach essential job skills such as food safety and sanitation, food preparation and customer service. Graduates of the program have been hired as pantry cooks, line cooks, pastry chef assistants, cashiers/hostesses and more. Fall classes begin Sept. 4.
The Neighborhood Bistro is also located in Goodwill’s Milgard Work Opportunity Center, located at 714 South 27th Street, in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood.
