Tacoma design center celebrates new ownership June 6

The new owner of a 50-year-old Tacoma work center for subcontractors will celebrate a grand reopening tomorrow by hosting a barbecue and open house, according to a statement released Friday.

Formerly known as the Associated Sub Contractors Plan Center, Plan Center of Tacoma is now locally owned and operated by Liz Mason, owner of Mason Coatings. The center provides drawings and specifications to subcontractor members for large and small projects. Members can work on projects in a comfortable environment with full customer service support during normal business hours. Full members benefit from 24-hour access to the plan center. New membership fees to ASC include a June introductory membership of $75.00; a full membership during business hours of $300.00 per quarter; and a full membership with 24-hour card key access of $1,000.00 per year.

The facility features computers, high-speed Internet, fax, notary services and administrative support. A bulletin of current projects is available on-line and updated daily. In addition, ASC can track down projects, order drawings and specifications, and provide copies of plans for subcontractor use or purchase on request.

A sub-contractor herself, Mason knows first-hand the value of a well run plan center. Her business, Mason Coatings was founded in 1991 and has since moved into the forefront of commercial, residential, decorative and industrial painting. “Associated Sub Contractors has been a valuable resource for years – an easy place to come in on weekends and evenings to get my bids done, ” says Mason. “It is our goal to not only reopen the Plan Center but to also provide comprehensive services to our members.”

The barbecue and open house tomorrow runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Plan Center, located at 6512 20th Street Court West, Suite B-2.
