Washington state saw the slowest population growth last year since 1986, U.S. Census Bureau estimated figures show. The data, released last week, shows a growth of 1.1 percent, but some parts of the state, like Franklin County, had a more robust population increase. Part of the slow rate was blamed on the sluggish state economy.
