Washington state will receive $2.9 million to fight terrorism in a series of federal grants announced Monday by the Justice Department.
The money will pay for communications and detection equipment and protective gear to respond to incidents involving nuclear, biological or chemical weapons or explosives.
Money is being provided to al1 50 states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.
