“CTED Director Appointed to Presidential Advisory CommissionPresident Clinton has appointed Martha Choe, director of Washington State Community, Trade and Economic Development, to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.The commission was established to advise the President on the development, monitoring and coordination of federal efforts to improve the quality of life for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.The commission is to study ways to increase public and private sector, along with community involvement in improving the health and well-being of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and to increase their participation in federal programs where they may be underserved. It will also look at ways to foster research and data collection on the two groups.Choe has served as a Seattle City Council member, a trustee of Western Washington University, and as vice president of the Bank of California.”
