Registration open for state safety conference

Registration is now open for the 52nd annual Governor’s Industrial Safety Health Conference Sept. 17 – Sept. 18 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle.

The conference, co-sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor and Industries, is one of the largest of its kind in the nation and annually draws thousands of safety and health professionals. This year’s theme is “Safety and Health: It’s Everyone’s Business.”

An $80 advance registration fee covers the two-day event; cost at the door is $95 per person. Registration forms are available online at: www.LNI.wa.gov/wisha/gov-conf/, or by phone, toll-free, at 877/866-7498. Advance registration ends Aug. 31.

Gov. Gary Locke is scheduled to open the conference and present several awards for lifesaving. Keynote speaker Martin Lesperance, a firefighterparamedic and EMT with 20 years experience, will follow. Martin has spoken across the country on injury prevention and is the author of several books on the subject.

Featured conference events include: fifty-plus industry workshops, display and product demonstrations by more than 100 companies and networking opportunities.

Conference attendees are eligible for continuing education credits from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, recertification credit hours from the Human Resource Certification Institute and industrial hygiene credits.
