Starting early Saturday morning, 775 people with resumes in-hand came out to the 2009 Rainiers Job Fair at the Boy Scouts of America building on 19th Street in Tacoma. In 2008, between 150-200 people attended the Rainiers Job Fair.
“We had a record turnout and a terrific caliber of potential employees,” said Rainiers President Aaron Artman. “We’re excited to be able to staff up for our 50th anniversary season with the creation of about 300 jobs over the next six months. The people we hire today are on the front line, and interface with our fans more than the front office staff ever can.”
The candidates from all over the South Sound applied for hundreds of seasonal positions ranging from ushers to cooks, ticket sellers, gift shop workers and security.
While a few applicants were hired on-site, the Tacoma Rainiers staff will spend the next few weeks going through the remaining applicants and conducting follow up interviews. All hires, totaling more than 250 will be completed by March 21.
Tacoma Rainiers Opening Night is April 17.
