Police video series seeks to build community ties

A new video series that supports the Tacoma Police Department’s continued efforts to build trust, relationships and understanding between community members and Tacoma Police Department officers, “Talks With TPD” launches with a conversation between Tacoma Police Chief Don Ramsdell and Office of Equity and Human Rights Director Diane Powers.

“Last October, in support of the City of Tacoma’s commitment to raising levels of transparency and accountability across the organization, the Tacoma Police Department released its very first data sets on the City of Tacoma’s open data portal, TacomaData, and we plan to release more on a quarterly basis,” said Ramsdell. “This new video series is just one of the many things we are doing to help our community members better understand where we are coming from and how we are evolving to better serve them.”

“Talks With TPD” is available online at www.cityoftacoma.org/police and on the Tacoma Police Department’s and City of Tacoma’s social media channels. It will also air on TVTacoma, through both the Click! and Comcast Cable systems. On Click!, TV Tacoma can be seen on Channel 12 within Tacoma City limits and in Pierce County, with the exception of University Place, where TV Tacoma can be found on Channel 21. On Comcast, TV Tacoma can be seen on Channel 12 within Tacoma city limits and on Channel 21 in Pierce County.
