After a competitive bidding process to build the new Especially Espresso and Battle Bean roasting operation at North Fort Lewis, Construction Resource Group (CRG) of Redmond, Washington was awarded the contract on January 29, 2002 – but with the difficult stipulation that the building must be completed in only 3 months!
The new building would be created in a fraction of the time that constructing it in a more traditional manner would take. Needing to be transported, modular structures typically require 30 percent more lumber than a traditionally built structure. That, combined with the speed of construction, make modular building a cost effective way to build a higher quality structure in a very short time.
